Perhaps South America’s most promising wine producing country, Argentina is the worlds fifth largest wine producer but it has only really merited the attention of the world beyond its borders since the 1990s. Malbec is the country’s signature grape variety, especially from the Mendoza valley close to the Chilean border on the eastern side of the Andes.
Argentine wines are made from traditional old world grapes such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, but also from Tempranillo, Torrontes and Malbec. Most of Argentinas wine estates are located on the Western Border with Chile. Argentinas major wine regions from north to south span; Jujuy, Salta, Tucuman, Catamarca, La Rioja, San Juan, Cordoba, Mendoza, La Pampa and Rio Negro.

Did you know that you CAN drink some red wines with fish. Try Pinot Noir, a young Cabarnet Sauvignon, a red Loire or some of the Red wines from Germany, Alsace or Austria.
