Barolo wines

Barolo Wines, derived from the Nebbiolo grape, are characterized by their dark red color and rich, complex flavor. The name comes from a section of Piedmont, Italy. These wines often carry floral flavors – violet and rose are the most common – as well as fruit or oaky tints. Barolo wines are prime candidates for aging.

This is what some of our customers say

Thank you very much for the efficient way you dealt with my order. It was really important there were no slip-ups.

Barolo is an Italian wine, one of the many to claim the title “Wine of Kings, and King of wines.” It is arguably Italy’s most important wine, which is a hundred percent varietal pure wine made with the indigenous Nebbiolo grapes grown near the town of Alba in Italy’s Piedmont.

Barolo, a robust red, is full-bodied and very dry. They tend to be rich with pronounced tannins and acidity. These wines are almost always lightly colored varying from ruby to garnet in their young age to more brick and orange hues as they age. Like Pinot noir, Barolos are never opaque. They have the potential for a wide range of intricate and exotic aromas. Some aromas associated with Barolos include eucalyptus, dried fruit, camphor, chocolate, mint, mulberries, leather, licorice, plum, strawberry, spice, white truffles, tobacco, as well as dried and fresh herbs. The tannins of the wine add texture, and serve to balance Barolo’s moderate to high alcohol levels. When subjected to aging of at least five years, the wine can be labeled a Riserva.

It is best to open a bottle of Barolo an hour ahead of time to allow for proper aeration, and it is best served with food. It nips the taste buds and enhances an exquisite dining experience. For connoisseurs, it is Italy’s most collected wine; for beginners it is a most unique experience.
