France’s most diverse and geographically extensive wine region stretching from Nantes on the Atlantic coast to the heart of the Auvergne. The whites are probably most famous (Sancerre, Muscadet etc) but the reds (Chinon for example) and rosés (especially from Sancerre) really should be tried too. A classic region of wonderful variety.
The most northern of French viticulture, the Loire wine region is split into a number of sub-regions including; Nantais, Muscadet, Anjou, Coteaux du Layon, Coteaux de l`Aubance, Anjou-Coteaux, Savennières, Saumur-Champigny, Touraine, Vouvray, Chinon, Bourgueil ,Touraines to name but a few.
The region produces wines out of grapes found in most other French wine regions; White wines from Chenin Blanc, Muscadet and Sauvignon Blanc, and Red Loire wines typically from Cabarnet Franc, Pinot Noir and Gamay.

Wine Tips
Did you know that you CAN drink some red wines with fish. Try Pinot Noir, a young Cabarnet Sauvignon, a red Loire or some of the Red wines from Germany, Alsace or Austria.
