Round, ripe black cherry on the nose; hints of sloe and plum. A fresh, beguiling palate of clean cherry fruit and fresh plum with gentle violet perfume, medium tannins and refreshing acidity on the finish - crisp and tangy.

Producer: The ambitious Mario Gagliasso took over from his father in the 1980s and set about transforming the family business. Since those days he has invested in new vineyards, re-planting vines, temperature controlled vats and so on - a complete overhaul was required if Mario was to reach the quality heights that he desired and so that was what the estate got. Even as recently as 2009 the cellar, based in the ancient village of Torriglione, was completely renovated - it may not feature on Grand Designs but it’s a brilliant winemaking facility. The biggest change though, has come in attitude, which has become far more professional low yields, fastidious vineyard management and a demand for consistency and purity in the winemaking process. Their progress has been steady and we were very impressed with this range of wines.
