A very classy introduction to the delights of red Burgundy - Pinot Noir in its natural habitat! Soft red berry fruit (lovely fresh strawberry and raspberry in particular) and a very elegant, silky palate.

Rocca di Montegrossi
This is a relatively new name on the Chianti Classico horizon. The Estate has been producing wine and Olive oil for many generations but since Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi took over the running of the property in the mid 90`s it has transformed from also ran to leader of the pack. With each new vintage Rocca di Montegrossi is producing wines that demand attention. All the red wines fermented in Allier vats and are matured in a combination of Allier vats or barriques for about 12-18 months (depending on the wine) and are bottled without filtration. These balanced, intense wines show excellent structure with lovely refined overtones, very classy. They are traditional Chiantis with a touch of modernity.

Chianti Classico 2007
An excellent Chianti Classico showing what modern winemaking can achieve when used in conjunction with traditional sensibilities. Intense red cherry fruit with savoury notes, freshening acidity and a well maanged tannins. Very well balanced.
